Did I recognize almost long forgotten TV news personality Mort Blender ? I had to do some library research to know what happened to my fellow mortal : [Morton I. Blender, 70, a radio and television fixture in Rhode Island for 31 years, died Nov. 12 after a long illness, said his son, Matthew Blender, an Atlanta lawyer.Mr. Blender retired in 1984, and moved with his wife, Rose Blender, to Atlanta, where his three children were living. His was a household name in Rhode Island from the early 1940s until 1973, when he went to Washington, D.C., where he served for four years as press secretary to former Congressman Edward Beard.
