Fire alarm at Cranston Housing Authority but no response from Fire Dept ...

After about an hour the Cranston Fire Dept. showed up . It was probably a false alarm . But when these alarms went off before there was no clear instruction as to what to do for the mostly elderly residents : stay in your room with door closed or exit the building quickly if possible ? The building at 75 Mathewson St., Cranston, Rhode Island ( Randall Manor ) was recently inspected. Also, soon taken down , there was an ASBESTOS REMOVAL NOTICE on the outside door( with assurance that the workers were skilled at this ) . Many residents of Randall Manor ,while not yet ready for the nursing home, have daily living challenges : like checking their mail, taking the garbage out , doing their laundry. They too need some form of " assisted living " ( perhaps more " visiting nurse " attention ) . My 92 year old neighbor R.Z , a woman down the hall , can barely walk around her apartment with arthritis pain ( no prescribed pain medicine ? ) . I see her as an accident waiting to happen. How is she supposed to exit the building in a fire emergency ? Yes , indeed our oh-so-Blue - Democratic Party State of Rhode Island just cannot do enough for the elderly living mostly on social security income.
