On the 630 WPRO radio this morning callers were looking for some one person to blame. And , of course , so were the candidates for governor of Rhode Island. They all present themselves as outstanding characters who by FORCE OF PERSONALITY alone can solve deep rooted state problems. This is not leadership . This is VANITY . This is NARCISSISM. Is it not wiser to see SYSTEMIC problems ( as we democratic socialists do ) of CAPITALISM here ? For us FOR PROFIT incompetence and corruption explains so many malfunctions in pandemics, floods, blizzards , earthquakes , tornadoes, droughts , hurricanes, crop failures. Imagine what " The Day After " a nuclear war would look like ? Yet the DEEP STATE shadow government would convince the president of the United States that nuclear war with Russia, China is winnable ! What madness ! No wonder American radical sociologist C. Wright Mills described the military mind as " crackpot realism " in his book " The Power Elite ". The capitalist system and the agenda of American imperialism do not prepare HUMANITY for global catastrophes . Nowhere does capitalism put people above profits. And what can end monstrous INFLATION quicker than DEFUNDING - not the police - but the whole military -industrial complex ? [ Forget the TRILLIONS set aside to UPDATE America's nuclear arsenal ?]
