Fascist movements have had no problem recruiting young people in the past. They are usually recruited from the nervous, anxious, ruined but still relatively privileged middle class. They begin with hysterical screeching for " law and order " and loud support for their beloved police.

           Of course, if civilization itself breaks down there is no hope for social justice or human progress. I note that one pillar of decency - traditional religion - has been vilified by " identity politics " and political correctness for decades now.

       The collapse of the Soviet Union about 25 years ago left an ideological vacuum on the left. Is it possible not to believe in God but to worship money and capitalism ? And scoff at History as bunk ?

      They will mislead you back to the dead end of the Democratic Party - which has now degenerated into a neo-con war party promoting the New McCarthyism.

Is there any politically literate person in the West over 40 who has not read George Orwell's nightmare novel " 1984. " ? It was an ideological super weapon against " godless communism " ( headquartered in Stalinist Russia ) during the Cold War era.

It was not " obvious " to the Democratic National Committee who found even " socialist " Democrat Bernie Sanders ' " political revolution " to be ideologically offensive to the Hillary Democrats.

The first ominous sign of the New McCarthyism in the United States was DNC attacks on Sanders supporters in the primaries , They had " a propensity for violence ".

It ended rather sadly with Bernie Sanders - like the broken Winston Smith in " 1984 " - declaring his love and devotion to " Big Sister " , Hillary Clinton. She had the clear support of Establishment USA - which includes the CIA.
