Why do so many self described " socialist " American politician contenders for POWER invariably betray the interests of the working class? Are the " workers of the world", exhorted by Karl Marx in the famous 1848 " Communist Manifesto" to UNITE , in truth , as helpless to change the world as the slave class of antiquity? Hopeless forever wage slaves? For nearly a century workers in " OUR democracy" have been paralyzed even forming unions. As a long time independent democratic socialist I think that only an American Labor Party - not any sectarian Marxist " vanguard party"- can rescue the " workers of the world" from hopeless wage slavery. Forget about young Trotsky's vision ( stuffed with all the arrogance of early 20th century SCIENCE) of Socialist Utopia in the" glorious future".
