Inspired from youth by Albert Camus' sense of the Absurd, I try to be a voice for REASON in the growing darkness and moral insanity of global capitalism .

Norman Finkelstein Warns Zohran Mamdani: Confront the NYPD — Or Get Eate...[ " God died in the 19th century. UTOPIA in the 20th " . American socialist writer Irving Howe ]
Sad to say but the so called political LEFT today flounders between desperate hopes for reforming the pseudo- progressive WOKE WARRIOR Democratic Party and the going nowhere for more than a century Marxist " vanguard party " cults ( which spend most of their psychic energy pronouncing ANATHEMA on one another.
One public relations problem with the LEFT is their seeming permanent hostility to the world's great religions , especially to Roman Catholicism. As much as I appreciate science and the insights of " dialectical materialism ", I realize that these subjects do not excite the masses. The biggest mistake of the old Soviet Union was certainly not SOCIALISM . It was turning itself into a dreary " officially atheist " tyranny . Also , democratic socialists today have a problem describing the socialist VISION for our times. American socialist writer Irving Howe in his book " A Margin of Hope " made the point : " God died in the 19th century and UTOPIA in the 20th ". We democratic socialists simply must take into consideration the ecological disaster of late capitalism and a natural obstacle to unleashing the " full potential " of the modern means of production : " THE LIMITS TO GROWTH " :.
We can still make this a saner , more just , less cruel world . But the future as " Workers Paradise " is a pathetic daydream that was fed by the " arrogance of SCIENCE in the first decades of the 20th century , a causative factor for the first " Great War " of 1914. " Men Will Become Gods " ( H.G. wells ) . NO they won't ! So stick with THE ONE !

[ Yes, H.G. Wells wrote a novel titled Men Like Gods, first published in 1923.
The book is a "scientific fantasy" that follows a journalist and other "Earthlings" who are accidentally transported to a utopian parallel universe approximately 3,000 years ahead of contemporary Earth in its development. This world, which the Earthlings call Utopia, has achieved a society without government, war, or disease through advanced science and social progress. The title reflects the Utopians' superior state of being compared to the people of early 20th-century Earth. ]

[Yes, the American socialist writer Irving Howe said that "God died in the 19th century, utopia in the 20th".
The quote appears in his 1982 article "THE DECADE THAT FAILED" published in The New York Times, where he writes:
"God died in the 19th century, utopia in the 20th. But there is utopia and utopia. The kind imposed by an elite in the name of a historical imperative - that utopia is hell. It must lead to terror and then, terror exhausted, to cynicism and torpor. But surely there is another utopia... a utopia for the sober, a utopia for skeptics, a utopia for unyielding democrats?" ]
