As a teenager seeing Lee Harvey Oswald shot on live TV with Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby 's handgun and reading the gruesome autopsy report of President Kennedy 's assassin (???) I thought that the handgun was the most hideous human invention. A crazed person with a gun can end your life in minutes.And yet these handguns, to look at them , have a fiendish aesthetic appeal.
