" ] I was a student along with my big brother Rick at Hope High School in Providence , Rhode Island on the day President Kennedy was shot , November 22, 1963. My biology class was watching a film on the " circulation of the blood " . It was suddenly interrupted by the teacher , Mr. Cunningham, with an announcement : " The President has been shot in Dallas ! ". Driving back home in big brother Rick's car , we got the news that President Kennedy was in fact D-E-A-D ! A lot of drama that weekend viewed at home on the TV screen . Like Lee Harvey Oswald , a self-described Marxist ( himself perhaps a WARNING shot of the " Tumultuous Sixties " ? ) shot on TV, a " nationalized televised murder ". I never had any use for violence and I, like many Americans, loved JFK. But I began to wonder if SOCIALLY I had more in common with that " ANGRY YOUNG MAN " , Lee Harvey Oswald, than with any member of the upper class Kennedy family. I did feel that I had some intellectual inclinations in common with the aristocratic Bertrand Russell. I recall that I had just read his popular book " Why I Am Not A Christian ". Today I could attempt an essay titled : " Why I Am Not A New Atheist ". NOTE : What I definitely had in common with Lord Russell was a belief some form of democratic socialism.
