That legendary " I Want You " poem , a favorite of WEAN radio fans of " Dream Time " Don Rogers ( our Pop )

54 Pequot Trail, E Greenwich ,R.I. Oct. 16 , 1960 Dear Mr. Rogers In your program for Saturday Oct. 15 ,you read a poem at about 2a.m This poem was entitled " I Want You " . If it is possible I would like to obtain a copy of the poem. If I can't get it through you, perhaps you could tell me where I can. My husband is with the 1961 " Operation Deepfreeze " to Antartica. I'm sure this poem could express the feelings of the wives of the men down there. Thanking you in advance. I beg to remain Sincerely , Margaret E. Forman . NOTE : [ " 'Operation Deep Freeze' in 1961 refers to a U.S. Navy mission in Antarctica focused on providing logistical support for scientific research, including resupplying research stations like McMurdo Sound, South Pole Station, and Byrd Station, as part of the ongoing U.S. Antarctic Research Program; this specific year is often called "Deep Freeze 61" and involved activities like installing new communication systems, laying groundwork for a nuclear power plant, and conducting oceanographic studies in the Bellingshausen Sea using icebreakers like the USS Glacier and USS Burton Island. " ] I think this is the poem Margaret in Pop's fan mail was looking for . [ Pop's radio name at WEAN in Providence RI was " Don Rogers " . His night shift program was titled " Dream Time ". Pop had many dreamy insomniac fans who sent letters of appreciation . [" I Want You, I Need You, I Love You I Want You, I Need You, I Love You forever and ever in my life I Want You, I Need You, I Love You until I can't take it no more I Want You, I Need You, I Love You until I'm on my knees begging you to stay I Want You, I Need You, I Love You until not many books on the shelf are gone I Want You, I Need You, I Love You and that's how i feel about you " ] © Dec '20, nicholas talerico rhyme • love
