Am I mistaken in thinking that the obnoxious New Atheism has its pillars of support in secular, WOKE WARRIOR Democrat, Zionist Jews ? As a longtime independent democratic socialist and an " Old Catholic " type I am amused how the New Atheism attack on FAITH in general is combined with its own superstitious reverence for CAPITALISM, AMERICAN IMPERIALISM, and Israeli Zionism ( they must see the CHRISTIAN Zionists as proverbial useful idiots ) . The biggest mistake of the old Soviet Union was not SOCIALISM . It was declaring itself " officially atheist " ( turning off Old Europe and half the world ) and quickly evolving ( under extreme bourgeois pressure and threats ) into an anti-proletarian tyranny . The ex-Trotskyist and arrogant road show New Atheist Christopher Hitchens ( long dead from alcoholism ) must have known about " The Revolution Betrayed ". But that was a long way from his cult classic : " God Is Not Great- how religion poisons everything ". To be sure , " militant atheism " rivals religious fanaticism is producing EVIL.
