I always wanted to learn some basic Italian

I always wanted to learn some basic Italian. There are quicker ways to learn a foreign language in the last two decades . Some of these phrases I must have heard spoken at my Italian immigrant grandparent's house at 62 Gesler St. in the now famous Federal Hill section of Providence , Rhode Island . I recall ONE phrase vividly . Grandma Ruggieri not feeling well and uttering " fa male " in her native language. Family history has it that her first written word in her English language notebook was S-H-I-T ! During World War II she was suspected of loyalty to Mussolini ( false ! ) despite an occasional , humorous fascist salute. Grandpa Ruggieri did miss the Old Country especially when hearing on the radio Italian opera . Puccini " La Boheme " moved him to tears. Having already some background knowledge of basic Italian , I did listen to the whole You Tube video for more than two hours this afternoon. I find the printed Italian words and the spoken Italian words esthetically pleasing . As I did Spanish words
