A strike of school bus drivers in Providence , Rhode Island , is getting ugly. These Teamster Union drivers want a more secure pension deal . The strike is now past its third week. The local news ( 630 WPRO ) this morning reported that 6 school buses were set on fire overnight . The union has condemned this stupid violence . But Providence Mayor Elorza is under pressure to break the strike.
I do ask : would it help for the unionized teachers to support the striking Teamster school bus drivers ? No spirit of Eugene V. Debs among the unionized Providence teachers ? I read that THEY still do not have a contract from the Elorza administration and are very " demoralized ".
