This is very disturbing news. I was much impressed with your Chris Hedges interview. To be sure , " professional journalism " is dead in the mainstream news media. You can hardly find a single reporter or columnist or " guest " columnist , or editorial page editor there who is not a miserable sell out .
All those " liberal " writers are singing in tune with the military industrial complex, slobbering over the FBI, CIA, Pentagon, Homeland Security. And they even sound so much alike - lockstep , goose- step conformity. Their ruling class signed paychecks say sincerely : " Thank you for your service ".
The " Port Huron Statement " is a dim memory for them( of the older generation ) of betrayed youth. Look elsewhere for the RIGHT STUFF for real social change. No hope for the living dead .
Meanwhile on right wing talk radio we get bludgeoned daily with a minute by minute salute to the capitalist way of life. The talk radio blowhards would not last a day on the air after expressing cynical doubts about this " wonderful " economic system of God's Country.
Wait, there is still HOPE for working class drudges. This talk radio celebrity voice is now pimping -with unfeigned fervor - the state lottery. Was there not a lottery in Orwell's " 1984 " . And even a delirious Anti-Sex League ? Were we not always at war with Russia? Was not that Goldstein character ( Trotsky ? ) always a menace to Big Brother ?
" If you want a picture of the future , imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever ".
