What I call " thug patriotism " - so necessary for the Democratic and Republican planners of nuclear World War III - is being used to bludgeon humble - merely symbolic- protests against police brutality .
In general , this unjust capitalist society- based more on economic inequality than on vestiges of Deep South " white supremacy " - can not survive a month without lies and brutality: the mainstream news media supplies the lies ; the police thugs, along with the CIA, FBI , Pentagon, supply the brutality.
Kaepernick has been branded a " Marxist " by right wing " Red Eye Radio ". Note that both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X - both murdered - had a negative view of American capitalism.
The simple truth : American society is becoming unglued from its internal contradictions. A society where there is no respect for ordinary humanity complains about " the lack of RESPECT " ?
I am all for civility , respect , and common decency , But the mindless brutality of everyday capitalism spits in our collective face.
