I don't see the Christian Moral Majority as being nearly as influential as it was in the Reagan era. At the time popular science writer Isaac Asimov wrote a classic criticism of them and their " creationism " : " The Armies of the Night ".
Neither Asimov nor Carl Sagan were smug atheist bullies-like the late Christopher Hitchens author of the obnoxious book : " God Is Not Great ... How Religion Poisons Everything ". That sneering attitude will win the hearts of working class ? No surprise that Hitchens was a drunken ex-Trotskyist - who ended up supporting Bush's criminal invasion of Iraq.
