We should not have a mockery of a right to be homeless !
A tragic story like this makes it clear that the homeless problem in Rhode Island - in capitalist America- is hopeless until "OUR democracy " rethinks capitalist-landlord PRIVATE PROPERTY rights. Being homeless or a desperate " squatter " is not conducive to sound mental and body health. For most jobs a sound mind in a sound body is recommended. Was it wise to confront this man with a gun ? Why not the police here ? Clearly some form of AUTHORITARIANISM is called for in helping many homeless troubled souls . You should not have a mockery of a right TO BE HOMELESS. You should have a human right to a home ! We can at least begin with AFFORDABLE rents in working class neighborhoods. That means RENT CONTROL.
Consult the new Housing CZAR ! None of the " progressive " Democrats think outside the box of capitalist-landlord PRIVATE PROPERTY relations.
