In that book Howe documents the role radical leftist Jews played in the organized labor movement of the Depression Era USA and played as the very backbone of many communist and socialist political parties and organizations . In the last few decades many Jewish public intellectuals have been seduced back to " enthusiasm" for neo-con pro-capitalist , pro-American imperialist , and pro-Israeli Zionist political agendas.
