Why Walgreens And CVS Are Shutting Down Thousands Of Stores

Based on my experience with CVS and Walgreens pharmacies I think management is turning the " help " into idiots : I just left Walgreens Pharmacy on Warwick Ave. in Warwick, Rhode Island . I needed a snack to hold me over at the nearby public library . I was shocked by the prices of candy ! I selected " bark Thins - snacking chocolate dark chocolate , coconut & almond. NET WT 4.7 ounces ( 133 grams ON SALE for $5.49 ) . At the counter the " help " -this has been going on for months now at Walgreens and CVS asks me : " Do you want a bag ? " . The same at CVS a while back : not only do I want a bag but I do want a receipt . Now if you have more than a half a dozen store purchased items on the check out counter, how could you not want a bag ? And is not a receipt a legal matter ? Imagine walking out of the store with these just purchased items in my hands . And then I am challenged by a security guard ? What, no receipt ? Will the brute beat me up in the back of the store before calling the police ? This time I could not hold it in, my disgust : I told the clerk : " This asking for bags is really dumb ". She gave me a dumb excuse but then said that she was just doing her job. THAT I understood . I also note that TV advertising is dumber and dumber. Those BIG PHARMA prescription drug ads daily on TV news should be banned . They spell out in a whisper how they are likely to KILL you while showing images of fat jolly people dancing . I am sure YOUR DOCTOR ( " see your doctor " ) is delighted with patients who watch prescription drug commercials on local TV. But then perhaps BIG PHARMA has already sold Doc , him or her , on the product . FOR PROFIT medicine at its best ! We do live in the Golden Age of False Advertising . FOOTNOTE : Last time I shopped at CVS I asked for one of their baskets. I was told that they ran out of baskets ! So use a grocery store sized cart for half a dozen small items like soap and toothpaste and Bic shavers ?
