This was the first visit of brother Steve and I to a somewhat hidden jewel of Rhode Island: the Providence Athenaeum Library on Benefit St. . I was mesmerized by this elegant OLD FASHIONED library with its now antique card catalogue , browser friendly desks near book shelves where not a single book is a waste of public library space. I understand the ghosts of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft haunt this place ( probably hiding in the cracks of the old wooden floors ) . The Providence Athenaeum - a book lovers dream !
