To the male victim of " A Marriage From Hell "

This chilling " Love Story " could have been told in the long past by any number of great novelists and short story writers. Theme-wise it is cross between the French author Guy de Maupassant and the English author Somerset Maugham's classic " Of Human Bondage ". As a longtime independent democratic socialist I have observed for years how the capitalist " Culture of Narcissism " mass produces EVIL characters and corrupts in some ways just about all of us. For more than two centuries various socialists have criticized the fundamental rottenness of bourgeois marriage ( as a form of legal prostitution even in more innocent cases ). Sensitive , perceptive authors like Maupassant and Maugham must have played a role in my being a lifelong bachelor. A shelf full of books on " Divorce " at local public libraries also made me immune to the charm of that Frank Sinatra song " Love & Marriage " ( " go together like a horse and carriage " ) . And his " I Got You Under My Skin " describes a commonplace young to middle age male emotion. It is also all too human never to give up on the vision of " LOVE ". I can only wish the subject of this video whatever HUMAN happiness is still possible in a very decadent " Mondo Cane " world.
