Socialist VANGUARD parties have a 100 year dismal history of collapse and failure

These honest socialist revolutionaries invested heart and soul in what they perceived as VANGUARD parties. They have a very dismal history for more than 100 years after the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. A big mistake in " connecting with masses " was arrogant and obnoxious hostility to the world's great religions . This attracted more atheist cranks than lovers of the working class. The leaders of any future socialist revival must be pushed up from below -not self-appointed. I would not be surprised if it found its spiritual backbone in the much maligned Catholic Church .

Frank Lovell, who died on May 1 at the age of 84, spent some decades in the Trotskyist movement and was a founding member of the Socialist Workers Party in 1938.
