Just a thought : it might be possible in the near future with this
advanced memory research to moderate the normal fear of death by
understanding on a biochemical level just how the human " soul " takes
shape, the persistence of SELF , the survival of YOU in the neurons of
the people in your life who loved you ?
Nature makes YOU - the only YOU that will ever be - and then abruptly or gradually " deconstructs " YOU ( by senility, for example ).
On a lighter note I am certain that those Mega- Memory books are worthless- at least for me. Why should I remember any meaningless lists or nonsensical stuff which does not activate my WILL ? Would a dull wish to impress a memory tester help much ?
Words in a foreign language are more easily memorized if they have meaning in context and in your everyday life( Presently I am studying the Latin Vulgate Bible. If you are interested in a person, you are more likely to remember his or her name. WILL is so important here.
A more CURIOUS person will have the better memory. In my personal experience curiosity about anything always gives a pay-off.
A great teacher succeeds in convincing the students that the world, life, people, history, the universe are interesting. The bored scholar only communicates boredom.
I still recall from my Algebra I the general formula for the solution for quadratic equations. What can be more fascinating ? The nerd in paradise !
