What demolished the false ideology of capitalism for me long ago -apart from a lucid summary of the Marxist labor theory of value - was a fundamental truth of high school physics : the CONSERVATION OF ENERGY or more simply " You can't get something for nothing " . The morally ugly class of millionaires and billionaires , and now trillionaires, did not amass that much money , that much economic power by WORKING harder and smarter than whole nation populations collectively . They EXPLOITED the vast majority of people who simply had to WORK ( by mental labor or physical labor, or both ) for a living . Since the ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class , young people graduate from high school and college with mostly vacuous ideas about the benevolence of THE SYSTEM ( which includes THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM in " OUR democracy " ) .
