Negligent RIPTA management

11 views Apr 9, 2025 This noon time ( April 9 ) I could not resist turning my digital phone camera on the RIPTA bus station in Kennedy Plaza , Providence where none of the electronic bus schedule screens have been working for weeks now. How incompetent and negligent , and contemptuous of Rhode Island's regular bus riders, can the RIPTA management get ? Also always filthy and squalid Kennedy Plaza indicates the contempt not only of the RIPTA management but also of Providence Mayor Smiley in nearby Providence City Hall which overlooks the blight below. Could RIPTA be causing a BLIGHT FLIGHT of bus riders ? There is no excuse for little Rhode Island not to have a superb public transportation system which makes it possible for a citizen living in one town or city to get to any other town or city in the " Ocean State ". To be sure , our famous beaches should not be out of reach for any residents or visitors here. Also RIPTA management never enforces NO SMOKING rules displayed on signs. If a non-smoker wants shelter from the rain , he might have to choke for up to an hour while waiting for his bus ( only now and then on time ) .
