After 13 Years in China I returned to UK (This is Shocking)

As a longtime independent democratic socialist I recall those " crazy " days of the " Tumultuous Sixties " when fanatical Maoists waving that iconic " Little Red Book " would get into mostly verbal fights at anti-war street demonstrations with fanatical Trotskyists or psychopath anarchists , or " conservative " members of the Communist Party USA, or followers of LSD cult leader Timothy Leary , or deranged groups shouting " Free Charlie Manson ! " I still wonder who were the SANE survivors " on the Left " of those nightmare years . I still wonder about so called " communism " in Communist China today . No kidding -there IS a ruling class in China hell bent in rivaling the American and European plutocracies in acquiring PRIVATE wealth. But if I am not mistaken there is not a hint of old fashioned Maoist " evangelism " in the official Communist Party of China . They no longer seem to export Mao's slogans like : " political power grows out of the barrel of a gun ". Seeing the Maoists USA way back in the summer of 1970 , I wrote sarcastically some where : " The Bible cannot possibly replace the Little Red Book as a guide to salvation and a source of inspiration for us all " Well in China today religion is still totalitarian style persecuted . But where is that " old time religion " FAITH in COMMUNISM ? Do THEY still profess belief in the Marxist classics beginning with the " Communist Manifesto " . Do the Chinese " communists " today make even a squeaking appeal to the " workers of the world " ? Embrace " dialectical materialism " which asserts that the COSMOS is on their side ( as it was on Stalin's ). I personally think that the biggest mistake of the now collapsed Soviet Union was not " socialism ". It was making itself, in a just a few years after the glorious " Ten Days That Shook The World " Russian Revolution , an " officially atheist " tyranny. But China remains " Red " communist ? Has any American journalist dared to ask any high up Communist Party official in China : " Just WHAT do you still believe ? " If Leon Trotsky were around today, he might say that THEY believe in modern China's New Aristocracy . Is " THE REVOLUTION " always betrayed ? How can " Communist " Chinese nationalism not resemble German or Italian fascism ? The " Yellow Peril " vs. " Our democracy " ? NOTE : How can Trump's MAGA Republican Party agenda not resemble an American Reich ? Out of all this global political lunacy will come nuclear World War III ? God help us !
