Fwd: Projo editor , please explain : Do Randal Manor Residents Matter ?

Thank you , Katherine Gregg of the Providence Journal :   The so called supervisor at the Cranston polling place did nothing on September 8 , was perhaps nervously silent while I was being humiliated - like some ex-convict on parole - by the other hack Democratic Party poll workers.
THEY should have offered me right away the provisional ballot .  Why were DEMOCRATS being so strict about ID here ?
No COMMON SENSE judgment allowed for poll workers ? I could also have presented my latest SOCIAL SECURITY statement !

Dear Mr. Ruggieri,
As promised, I made some inquiries on your behalf after receiving your earlier emails.

Here's what I learned from the secretary of state's office:

"Mr. Ruggieri last voted in November of 2016. He is currently an active voter and is registered as a Democrat."

No problem there.

As to what happened when you went to vote, the incident was captured in a staff report that says, in part:

"One voter entered with an expired driver's license from 2017. Supervisors tried to explain alternative ID options, and the clerk attempted to offer a provisional ballot, however he was upset and left."

Cranston Registrar Nick Lima told me:  "If Mr. Ruggieri had accepted the offer of the poll workers to vote a provisional ballot, it is likely it would have been reviewed and adjudicated with our other provisional ballots, and counted based on whether his signature matched his voter record."

What happens next time?

If you are unable to update your photo ID and opt to vote at your local polling station again in November, I would suggest you simply explain the situation and ask for a provisional ballot which will then be matched up against your signature on your voter registration card.  Easy as that.

An alternative:  Vote by mail ballot. No photo ID required. The secretary of state has sent mail ballot applications in the mail to every registered voter.  Mine arrived earlier this week. It spells out the deadlines for applying, and then casting a mail ballot.

Regards,

Kathy Gregg

Can the PROJO editor please explain why a long time resident of Knightsville, Cranston- a law abiding citizen -   lacking a recent photo ID but possessing not too dated RI ID and RIPTA SENIOR ID - AND valid birth certificate - should be denied voting rights  at the polling place for 75 Mathewson St , Cranston , Rhode Island ( 02920 )  Cranston Housing Authority .
   [  non driver identification number 1321546 ....  SENIOR NO FARE , expires 2-28-2017 ]
My face has not changed too much in a few years . Even before the Corona Virus pandemic it was frustrating for seniors to deal with the Registry of Motor Vehicles  . Why cannot non-driver seniors  renew RI ID at the local City Hall?
I am  STILL a registered Democrat who voted for " socialist " Bernie Sanders in the April 2016 Rhode Island Presidential Primary. I do favor some " lesser evil " Democrats in local elections .
But I am beginning to think that President Donald Trump is THE lesser evil in 2020 - if you want to wallow in the cesspool of Establishment " democracy ".  " OUR democracy " !
                  Randal Manor Residents Matter !
