Hostility to Christianity cannot help the socialist cause

As an independent democratic socialist I voted for Bernie Sanders in the Rhode Island presidential primary in April ,2016. Sanders attracted a crowd of thousands at Roger Williams Park and compared to " Wall St. Hillary " he was fresh air. However my critical support ended abruptly after he endorsed " Corrupt Hillary " whose DNC had ( Bernie must have known this ) sabotaged his populist " socialist " campaign . To be sure , an ardent socialist has as much chance of spiritual survival in the Democrat Party as the proverbial snowball in hell. I do think that the best thing he can do now is lay the foundation for an American Labor Party with a socialist ideal. I say that the Democrat Party is no place for honest socialists . But I also must warn young people attracted to the socialist IDEA to avoid those Marxist sectarian parties on the Left . ALL of them seem fated to degenerate into weird personality cults . The members are invariably devoted to some permanent GREAT LEADER and remind me of those " Clears " in the daffy Church of Scientology. Also, I don't see how hostility to Christianity helps the cause of socialism . THE MASSES are turned off by the obnoxious New Atheism. And the biggest mistake of the old Soviet Union was to quickly declare itself " officially atheist ". What kind of socialist EQUALITY society would subject the masses to soporific and ludicrous sermons on godless materialism with iconic images of the God Particle and dark Satanic black holes? In such a godless universe even SOCIALISM would be utterly meaningless. In fact SOCIALISM might best triumph as a religious/spiritual movement .
