Two powerful nation states - and this is pure capitalist class sociopathy- brag about their apocalyptic nuclear arsenals. Did global public opinion decide that only the United States plutocracy ( now hardly distinct from the government ) had the moral authority ( earned at Hiroshima and Nagasaki ? ) to be completely dominant in nuclear war terrorism ?
I recall the uncompromised voices of SCIENCE in the past : Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Robert Oppenheimer Linus Pauling , Carl Sagan ,warning the world about the dangers - the insane over-kill- of these nuclear weapons.
Before he died in 1955 Einstein sadly observed the subservience of so many scientists to the U.S military industrial complex. Unless I am misinformed, all the American " pacifists " have been pacified, the conscience of SCIENCE has been dulled by philistine privileges and egocentric private concerns. Not even in the phony Hollywood movies do we find the scientist as " hero ". So many soul-less Dr. Frankensteins and Dr. Strangeloves .
The mainstream news media journalists are even worse. Hardly one is not a variation of " voice " on the CIA , FBI, Pentagon propaganda line.
As George Orwell's character Winston Smith wrote in " 1984 " : " If there is hope it lies in the proles ".
