Democratic socialist Irving Howe - a wise old radical

As a democratic socialist myself I do respect this wise " old radical " Irving Howe. Much of what he said in this interview is relevant to the Bernie Sanders "political revolution " , the focus on unacceptable economic inequality in the presidential campaign of 2016.

 But since the time of this interview what did pass for real " democracy in America " has sadly decayed . The country is evolving  into a militarized police state- with neo-Democrats like Hillary Clinton leading it.

 Was the leadership of  Students for a Democratic Society ( SDS ) in the late 60s more perceptive about this than Howe ?

 I commend Irving Howe for never betraying the ideal of democratic socialism- and setting an example for civilized, literate dissent.

 Still " A Margin of Hope " ( his political autobiography ) for socialism in the new century.
