Some thoughts on this strange period in history where the 20th Century begins to merge with the 21st Century…

We have lived through a dark aberration in human “progress”– an almost sudden period of unimaginable bounty… not the usual SLOW climb as we saw with the dawn of agriculture.

Not since the Industrial Revolution have the waters of progress been so muddied.

These first two decades of the 21st century we have witnessed the end of sustainable progress as we became drunk with excessive life choices and tinny technology.

It’s the end of the space age… even while delusional billionaires talk of colonizing Mars… returning to the moon…all with a blind faith in their newly created synthetic god —A.I.

Like an estuary (only deep and dark) where salt water joins with fresh water… we are a BRAKEN people… witnessing an irreversible distancing from the land; a sustainable and reverent relationship with nature... closer to “the source” which was once an available option.

But now we’re also facing the dissolution of technology… the breakdown of “progress”… so we, as a society are left with no comfort or safety net in the big urban places or the sanitized suburbs…

Our only hope will be in finding renewed interest in small, local communities of people who still hold a flame for honest and purposeful living. Who are able to produce and teach… providing a period of “unlearning” and a chance for renewed harmony with nature and all that kept us human…

But the population will have to decrease. It will decrease through war and famine and plague… only then will those few remnants who still carry an inner pilot light, be able to re-introduce humans to their better angels…
