I think so true the GREAT IDEA that everything in the universe , on earth every living creature , every individual human being , comes into existence , develops, fades , passes out of existence . The very geography of the Earth is not fixed . Whole continents are in motion. Was historical materialism alone in asserting that all kingdoms , regimes, socio-economic systems must sooner or later pass out of existence ? Way back in the Christian " Dark Age " ( ? ) Catholic theology taught that only God is ETERNAL . As a longtime independent democratic socialist I look forward to THE END of capitalism. But certainty about the death of an economic system tells us nothing certain about how to facilitate that exit IN OUR TIMES . How do you explain why the working class has been mostly asleep for the past century -with or without the presence of Marxist " vanguard party " organizations ? Just WHO can lead the global working class to SOCIALISM is for me an open question . Only the Holy Ghost knows for sure ! I agree with atheist British philosopher Bertrand Russell that rigid dogmatism is invariably self-defeating . And yes , the VOICE OF GOD can assume various delusional forms ( like really believing that an abstraction called HISTORY is on your side ) .
