What a mess--- the long fragmented , cult plagued , history of Leon Trotsky's hapless ( or clueless ? ) Fourth International . No wonder I will remain an independent democratic socialist for the rest of my lucid life !

Yes, there are rivals to the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) and its parent organization, the Socialist Equality Party (SEP). The WSWS is the main organ of the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI), a Trotskyist international. The complex and often fractional history of Trotskyism has produced many rival internationals, each claiming to be the authentic heir to Leon Trotsky's revolutionary tradition. Key rivals to the WSWS and the ICFI include: The Revolutionary Communist International (RCI): Formerly known as the International Marxist Tendency (IMT), this Trotskyist international was founded in 1992 and recently rebranded in 2024. It publishes theoretical articles and analysis on its website, marxist.com, and actively recruits members, primarily among the youth. International Socialist Alternative (ISA): Another Trotskyist international, the ISA was founded in 2019 following a split within the Committee for a Workers' International (CWI). It is active in dozens of countries and publishes news and analysis from a Marxist perspective. The League for the Fourth International (LFI): The LFI is a Trotskyist international that, like other groups, claims to be the inheritor of the Fourth International. Its online presence, including its main publication The Internationalist, competes for the same audience of Marxist and socialist readers. Other Trotskyist internationals: Due to a long history of splits and fragmentation, there are numerous other, generally smaller, Trotskyist internationals and organizations that vie for influence within the far-left. These include: The Fourth International (post-reunification), often referred to as the "United Secretariat". The Trotskyist Fraction–Fourth International (TF-FI). The Committee for a Workers' International (refounded), one of the groups that emerged from the 2019 CWI split. Each of these organizations promotes its own interpretation of Marxist and Trotskyist theory and history and considers the others to be politically flawed or "revisionist". They compete for members, influence, and online readership by publishing their own news sites, articles, and ideological defenses.
