Old socialists are still around in the USA . They know that the homeless crisis can never be solved within the framework of capitalist-landlord PRIVATE PROPERTY rights. A democratic socialist government in the USA would simply APPROPRIATE whatever PRIVATE PROPERTY that would effectively house the homeless . Of course , it would make demands on the physically and mentally homeless that they not be social parasites. For the rest - the drug addicts , alcoholics , mentally defective, emotionally disturbed - there will be a vast re-opening of benevolent , SCIENCE guided state mental institutions . The future SANITY of the human race will demand that PRIVATE PROPERTY " freedom " finally come to an end. Surely the highest form of FREEDOM cannot possibly be the " freedom " to exploit , oppress , swindle the majority of the human race by means of OWNING everything . Left wing writer Gore Vidal would agree that this is what PRIVATE PROPERTY sanctified by the American Constitution has been all about since 1789 . And as Karl Marx pointed out long ago PRIVATE PROPERTY hardly exists anymore for working class people . Indeed in the United States in the year 2023 more and more once solidly MIDDLE CLASS home owners are being ruined by our WAY OF LIFE . Can MILLIONS still be assembled to defend " sacred " PRIVATE PROPERTY rights ? Is there a latent GOD & PROPERTY right wing party in the United States ? ( Naturally I prefer " GOD & SOCIALISM ). A social basis for a Sinclair Lewis " It Can't Happen Here " scenario ?
