An " epic loss " for Hillary Clinton in California ? Some students of American history might recall the EPIC campaign of another " socialist " Democrat Upton Sinclair in California in 1934 : " End Poverty in California " nearly won and probably pushed FDR to the left.
Then Upton Sinclair went back to his novel writing. I do support Bernie Sander's " political revolution " and wish him well in sunny, progressive California.

In this particular incident there was probably more brainless vandalism than reactionary politics. The anti-war movement has been rather dormant in the United States since Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama was elected president. But U.S. imperialism has not been dormant anywhere on the planet. One week the Pentagon threatens nuclear armed Russia. The next week it threatens nuclear armed China.
The endless- and lost cause- " war on terrorism " is mostly a cover for the New Colonialism in the Middle East. All those former colonialist European powers gang bombing poor Syria. Then rejecting with contempt all the refugees of that war ruined region.
Only " international socialism " speaks up for these wretched Islamic people.

Just for the record : my " political science " course was rather practical. I was a presidential elector for the Socialist Workers Party in Rhode Island in the same election year ( 1980 ) that Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont was an elector for this still respectable SWP in Vermont.

In the early 70s I was also an elector ( " fellow traveler " ) for the American Communist Party. The local leader of CPUSA here was persecuted by HUAC. He fought with the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in Spain in the 1930s.Before proud communist John Hovan died at age 90 + he was honored by present government of Spain.John Hovan's story was on the front page of the Providence Journal.

So much for my " political education ". Socialists Bertrand Russell and Erich Fromm were also an inspiration.
