Even right- wing Donald Trump must grovel before " political correctness " ?

  Yes, Donald Trump is " charismatic " just speaking his mind. But he too feels the pressure of a now faceless , anonymous cultural FORCE called " political correctness ". Nobody should be instantly rebuked or lose a job for minor offenses against vague and dumb RULES OF CONDUCT & SPEECH in public.
For a nice fee cultural and political charlatans are hired to guide ALL of us here.And they hardly ever change the status quo: the rich get richer . The Pentagon does not crumble . But society gets sicker !

The Political Correctness Era has peaked

• As a democratic Socialist I have been convinced for years that often ludicrous political correctness is the stock- in trade- of the " pseudo-Left". Socialists have always pointed out various kinds of group oppression -and prejudice-under capitalism. But for militant socialists-like Eugene V.Debs- race, gender, and sexual orientation are secondary to generalized CLASS oppression and exploitation.
  The neo_Democrats -represented by the Clintons and President Obama- abandoned New Deal " liberalism " decades ago. No wonder the " socialist " Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is surging in popularity.
  What does it matter to the voting masses in America if they have a feminist woman president, a gay secretary of defense, and a trans-gendered secretary of state, if they all are Ayn Rand capitalists at heart ?
  What would the openly gay, politically radical poet Allen Ginsberg say about gay generals in the Pentagon ? I am sure he would HOWL about it.
  On both the American Left and the American Right political correctness has peaked.The Great Recession is weakening it. REALITY is weakening it.
  I would say that political correctness is still a good guide for everyday manners in a truly diverse society.
  

Could Socialism be a hate crime against a protected minority ?

   As a democratic Socialist I also am a strong supporter of FREE SPEECH in this country. It has been undermined by the quasi intellectual tyranny of " political correctness ".
        What is the point  in " saying what you think and feel "  if it brings not only instant rebuke ( are YOU one of those nasty HATERS ? ) but real punishment: the immediate loss of a job ?
      Right  wing Donald Trump 's political capital is saying what he thinks-with brazen boldness. Many voters find that refreshing.
        It is even more scary when IDEAS are anathema. How long will it be before it is taboo to suggest that our ONE PERCENT plutocracy is morally " sick "  ?
       Imagine S-O-C-I-A-L-I-S-M being outlawed as a hate crime against a  very well protected   minority !
           And yes, we do have  " a Muslim problem " in this country . But I call it  I-S-L-A-M-O-P-H-O-B-I-A  (. U.S. and Israel )
     But please, enough of the  THOUGHT CRIME police .

 

Armed Goons will not make Providence safer for residents ( another dumb RIPTA ad )

There is something increasingly degenerate about RIPTA. The bus ads suggest that armed thug security guards have the RIGHT STUFF for law & order in the inner city Providence neighborhoods. They will protect business and private property -not make the neighborhood safer for law abiding residents.
I heard that there is a heavy ex-cop presence in RIPTA now. Their drivers are forced to become more robot- like and authoritarian.
How can Scott Avedisian not take responsibility for RIPTA recklessness ? Poor Boobie Moore -crushed under a Broad St. RIPTA bus last May -was clearly a case of vehicular homicide.
This latest RIPTA ad is about as socially sensitive as that one about THE PERSECUTED GODLESS amongst us last year.
Somebody was pleased that Mayor Elorza would be our first " openly atheist " mayor of Providence. God bless Providence !
