Cuban embargo justified by " poor human rights record " ?

As a citizen of the United States I am happy about this normalizing of diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba. It is blatant hypocrisy to think that the present cruel embargo of Cuba has anything to do with a " poor human rights record ". The U.S. ruling class has no problem with numerous far right or fascist regimes. No problem with the human rights record of Pinochet in Chile-after the CIA arranged the assassination of the democratically elected president, Salvadore Allende, a rather naive Marxist.
The Republican Party would outlaw Socialism in the United States - as well as in Cuba. Can you quarantine a great and progressive idea ? Viva the Cuban Revolution
              ****
More than 50 years after the Cuban Revolution the " gusanos " in Miami still cry over private property -so hard earned under the Batista regime- and seized by the revolutionary titan Fidel Castro.
Are they hoping for a return to capitalist decadence in Cuba ? There is a scene in Godfather II where Michael Corleone views a Cuban " suicide bomber ". It makes this Mafia don reflect : "They are going to win ! ".

                                ***
"After witnessing a rebel suicide bombing in Havana, Cuba, Michael becomes convinced of the rebels' resolve to overthrow the dictator Fulgencio Batista. Fredo brings Michael money for a deal with Roth, but instead of giving it to Roth, Michael asks Roth who put out the hit on Pentangeli. Roth is reminded of his late friend Moe Greene—dead in a spate of Corleone killings—saying,  'This is the business we've chosen. I didn't ask who gave the order because it had nothing to do with business!'   "

Wonderful American Way of Life breeds so many troubled souls

too many drug overdose deaths in Rhode Island
  •     The medical examiner's office should be more than adequately funded. Just weeks ago Governor Gina Raimondo and her lackeys were saying how cuts in Medicaid would improve health care in Rhode Island ( very Orwellian ! ) Too may drug overdose deaths here ? Could there be a connection between the neglect of human needs and the Democratic Party's allegiance to the capitalist profit system ? With only Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders a voice of dissent ?
Troubled souls seek release from pain and depression in dangerous narcotics. A corrupt mental health system- and corrupt and incompetent psychiatrists- also accept the bottom line-a FOR PROFIT nightmare.
Why should our wonderful American Way of Life breed so many troubled souls ? Ask any bought and sold doctor- who is apoplectic over " socialized medicine.

Popcorn scandal at St. Mary's festival in Cranston

fireworks at St. Mary's Festival in Cranston

I am presently  listening to  630wpro radio coverage of St. Mary's festival in Cranston. The Italian-American experience is really under-reported in America.
I live in Knightsville myself and Friday attended the St. Mary's festival with my lady friend and her grandson. Very colorful event .
Just one complaint: I love popcorn. But I am quite sure that the POPCORN AT FESTIVAL WAS NOT FRESHLY POPPED .
There was a lack of respect here for the popcorn lover.. Next year no stale popcorn, please .Have the priest bless the popcorn too !

Was the popcorn stale  at St. Mary's Feast in 2015 ? ( breaking news scandal )

The workers of the world have no country

As a democratic Socialist - a critical supporter of " socialist " Bernie Sanders -  I can offer the distraught ,immigrant family of Luis Flores this solace: No Republican will be elected president of the United States in 2016.The mean spirit of Ayn Rand will not prevail in that election.
                                         *****

Since we are nation of laws corporate criminals have their own morality: whatever they can get away with. Young " people of color " - executed on the spot for some petty crime against private property- are invariably " beneath the law ".
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont for president of this " nation of laws " - which has outlawed Socialism not only here but also in Cuba ?

"Jose Flores, an undocumented immigrant"
ILLEGAL immigrant. And look how emboldened, even brazen they have become, publicly confronting a politician, because the left has told them in no uncertain terms that it is okay to enter the US illegally. The more the merrier.

As a matter of fact too many " on the left " have forgotten the vision of Marx-Engels in their still inspiring, still relevant Communist Manifesto : the workers of the world have no country ".
This means that Socialism will create a New World with no political boundaries. All this was old stuff a hundred years ago.
The adult Luis Flores will simply find himself a happier " citizen of the world ".
The ONE PERCENT American plutocracy will be just a bad memory in the history of civilization.
