" A Nation Divides Along a Red-Blue Axis " ? New York Times . A democratic socialist perspective

" A Nation Divides Along a Red-Blue Axis " ? As a democratic socialist - very much influenced by Marxist economics - I see " a Nation " divided mostly on the basis of CLASS . People with the same CLASS roots tend to have similar -if not identical - political and religious views. Ruling class ideology and propaganda will never persuade WORKING CLASS American -in the long run- that American capitalism and American imperialism offer us " everything for the best in the best of all possible worlds " . As Karl Marx noted : " A man [ and a woman ] thinks differently in a palace and in a hut " . In general the Republicans make appeals to the more prosperous half-of the nation . The Democratic Party makes appeals to the " better educated " ( ELITIST ) part of the nation and endlessly poses as the great " friend of labor " in " OUR democracy " . But in reality the TWO PARTY system effectively serves the interests ( and resolves internal disputes ) of the American plutocracy , the wealthy RULING class. WE working class Americans, of all races and ethnic groups, need an AMERICAN LABOR PARTY - like the British Labor Party ( but less compromised ) to serve our class interests.
