" Reefer Madness " redux-- END THE WAR ON DRUGS

This letter is well intentioned I am sure but it reminds me in its tone of a cult film from the 60s : " Reefer Madness ". It would be wiser for the state just to end the silly war on drugs, and nationalize Big Tobacco- the high cost of cigarettes is a cruel tax on the poor.
The state should report on the dangers of ALL recreational drugs just as it does on prescription drugs. Ever LISTEN to the possible negative reactions of Viagra ?
The prejudice against marijuana is no doubt making it difficult for medical doctors to prescribe it- even to terminal cancer patients. My friend and neighbor is dealing with this " problem ".
Doctors in general are getting uptight about prescribing wonderful pain medicine to 80 year olds . They might get the legal equivalent of " Reefer Madness " !
So solicitous is the government for our health that we still have a very inadequate health care system. They should just extend Medicare-as Providence Journal retired editorial page editor, Robert Whitcomb, recommended in a past column. Too LIBERAL for the " Freedom & Prosperity " gang ?
