Can Bernie Sanders socialize the Democratic Party ?

Has Bernie Sanders lost his socialist soul ?

I was pleased when Bernie Sanders, the " socialist ", announced he would run for president. For decades now the very idea of " socialism " in the mass media has been kept alive -oddly enough-by the far right. " Red Eye Radio " sees creeping socialism everywhere. For the far right, liberal is as dirty a word as socialist.
Recalling the gains of the New Deal era, how could any non-fanatical socialist have a belligerent attitude toward reformist liberals ?
As a democratic Socialist myself ( sadly " independent " ) I know how perilous it is to " work within the system " . The Democratic Party will " reform " the socialist long before he or she will reform-or even liberalize- the Democratic Party.
I would give critical support to Bernie Sanders whenever he talks class war politics. But I am very suspicious of ANY socialist who is trying to " save " the middle class. In fact, Ralph Nader is more " radical " than Sanders.Nader chose former SWP leader Peter Camejo for his vice-president running mate. Did Green Party leader Camejo betray " socialism " ?  I don't think so.
But THE SOCIALIST TRUTH in this new century has become an orphan.( the SWP , I read, is now pro-Zionist ! )
