That corporate glass ceiling-voila the enemy !

book review blurb     Consider the big picture Rick. Who today accuses Russia and China of betraying socialism ? I think of Leon Trotsky way back in 1929 ( ? ) writing " The Revolution Betrayed ". That book remains the best explanation to this day for the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.
Here is the point of vulnerability: Only quite well educated people can even grasp the ABCs of Marxist doctrine. And many of them are on the brink of privilege very early in life. I laugh whenever a " radical " gets married.I read that the wife of Eugene V. Debs always ridiculed his " socialism ". Such wives are the most conservative force on the planet.
At 68 I am still an uncompromised -if somewhat impotent socialist. I could flatter my strong character. But I never had " the wife and kids " to worry about.
Nothing surprises me much anymore-not millionaire " socialists " nor upwardly mobile feminists. That corporate glass ceiling- voila the enemy !

I did not read this book. I gave it away. Did I miss the synopsis on the web site?? If I read it I would not have ordered the book. It is about the communist/socialist who was instrumental in establishing unions in the US. . . .and his troubled personal life. Not interested. I have read other Irving Stone books I liked very much. I don't want to read this one.
Now obscure novel about the marriage of socialist Eugene V.  Debs.
