Democratic socialists have been arguing for years that ALL political elections in capitalist America are essentially RIGGED in favor of the plutocracy. This plutocracy effectively controls BOTH the Democratic and Republican parties. Any perceived or imagined " socialists " in the Democratic Party-like AOC or Bernie Sanders- are complete sham. From the point of view of America's super-privileged class SOCIALISM -even as an IDEAL - will always be ANATHEMA ! Numerous POLITICAL PRISONERS in the USA -past and present -are well documented. Recall just Eugene V. Debs - a presidential candidate - more than a century ago( read Deb's famous "Canton Speech " ) .
Real SOCIALISM will tolerate neither an economic system based on exploitation and oppression nor its perpetual Pentagon War Machine. Nor will real SOCIALISM tolerate the daily lying of the FAKE NEWS mainstream news media. Nor tolerate a system of ELITE colleges and universities designed to perpetuate the BRAINS and organize the pernicious THINK TANKS of the capitalist ruling class. Now would real SOCIALSM tolerate Orwellian " 1984 " type spy agencies -true sinister ENEMIES OF DEMOCRACY , of THE PEOPLE: the FBI , the CIA, HOMELAND SECURITY.
Real SOCIALISM will make " OUR democracy " something more than a BIG LIE- by beginning with ECONOMIC justice.
