In the middle sixties the American ruling class was confident and secure enough to let public high students learn -with a minimum of distortion- the ABCs of Marxism . I recall reading a rather long introduction of the Communist Manifesto which explained that the great, happy, SOLID American middle class was a bulwark against any Bolshevik revolution happening here. But Marx also said that under capitalism " everything solid melts into air ".

Democratic socialism has no voice in the Democratic Party -a pillar of capitalism and militarism just like the Republican Party.
