I don't know any " democratic socialist " who would object to ACLU
defending both the human rights and the civil rights of any and every
truly vulnerable group in the country.
But I suspect the so called " liberal " news media would rather have public opinion inflamed over " identity politics " issues than over the" free fall " of the champion of " identity politics " , Hillary Clinton, in the presidential race.
A Fox news poll ( there must be better polls ) has her losing to right wing demagogue Donald Trump in the presidential election of 2016.
Could it be that " socialist " Bernie Sanders raises more urgent social issues than Hillary- like unacceptable economic inequality ?
According to other polls, Bernie Sanders can " stop Trump. ".
Homeless people are not too worried about trans-gender friendly public restrooms. Any one will do !
