The mystery of human boredom . Did Divine Boredom create the Universe ?

I thought that was the key sentence is the whole article- " boredom causes us to search for meaning ". How many evils in human social life are directly connected to this almost instinctive need never to be bored ?

People get drunk, do drugs because they are bored, ruin their lives by gambling because they are bored, get addicted to pornography because they are bored, gossip about neighbors because they are bored.

Boredom might be connected to loneliness too. Three drunks babbling to one another in an all night bar never seem bored. Often solitude is delicious as long as you are not bored.

How did I fight boredom waiting for a friend and neighbor in a doctor's office for nearly three hours ? I had a book with me that I knew would be interesting.

A long time ago I concluded that we at least live in a very interesting world - a very interesting universe.I picture the Mind of God as never being bored.

" In the Beginning there was boring quantum nothingness ". Abstract Boredom exploded in a Big Bang : " Let there be light ".What is boredom ? PSYCHOLOGY TODAY

And Charles Darwin asked : " But why did God create so many different kinds of beetles ? ". And even the atheist Lenin said that " the electron is inexhaustible .

My mother used to amaze people by reading the dictionary at work. In prison Malcolm X discovered that the dictionary was a miniature encyclopedia. He came out of prison eager to make speeches. There is a Malcolm X quote inscribed on the front of the University of Rhode Island Library : " I could spending the rest of my life just reading books... "

There are many cures for boredom. On my way to Mars I could think of a few more.
 [Hi Ron,
Your post on boredom brought to mind this profound quote from the movie "My Dinner with Andre":

ANDRE: "OK. Yes, we are bored. We're all bored now. But has it ever occurred to you Wally that the process that creates this boredom that we see in the world now may very well be a self perpetuating, unconscious form of brainwashing, created by a world totalitarian government based on money, and that all of this is much more dangerous than one thinks? and it's not just a question of individual survival Wally, but that somebody who's bored is asleep, and somebody who's asleep will not say no?"]
