Fascism begins with " liberal " betrayal of the working class
Democratic socialists have long explained that fascism is a ruling
class reaction to a profound crisis of capitalism.
Always it begins with
" liberal " betrayals of the working class. The driving force of
fascist movements has been the ruined middle class and unemployed "
intellectuals " and artists.
In his book " Anatomy of Human
Destructiveness" socialist Erich Fromm analyzed German fascism and the
" petty bourgeois " character of Adolph Hitler.
Most
German workers were drawn to socialist and communist parties. They felt
betrayed even by
their own " class " parties.
" Not every petty bourgeois could be Hitler " ( Trotsky )
Comments that are courteous, concise and relevant are always welcome, whether or not they agree with the views expressed here or not. Profanity is not necessary. Thank you for reading “Time Enough At Last!”
