Chris Harper Mercer - our mental health system stinks

The mental health system in this country stinks. The solicitude for the civil rights of the seriously mentally ill is just a cover for denying them the right to long care treatment. Whole books have been written by brilliant and compassionate mental health professionals on the dismal failure of PROJECT DE-INSTITUTIONALIZATION.
Invariably they talk about these look -a-like, talk-a-like mass killers as having " fallen through the cracks ". We are paying the price of the corruption of American psychiatry- which has no real quarrel with the insane capitalist social order and its culture of violent narcissism.
Oddly enough Chris Harper Mercer describes himself as a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN - hostile to organized religion. No fanatical Islam influence here.
I suspect the New Atheists are wrong. We do need God ! Says a character in a Dostoevsky novel : " If God does not exist, then everything is permitted ".  Everything ?
What is the god of American psychiatry ?   $$$$$   ? The god of militant atheist Ayn Rand - a Republican favorite, author of " The Virtue of Selfishness ".
