    A " dysfunctional black subculture " is no more a pernicious myth that the generalized " culture of poverty " described by the socialist writer Michael Harrington in his classic " Poverty in America " -that inspired Great Society legislation of the LBJ era.
If you separate race from class you end up in a liberal or conservative ( blame the victim ) muddle.
