I would vote NO on any pro-casino, pro-gambling referendum. With a sense of humor I recall my dismal view of gambling shaped by an eerie Twilight Zone episode titled " The Fever ". How many weary, red-eyed, often drunken losers coming out of grand lurid casinos experience the equivalent of the " Franklin ! Franklin ! " nightmare ?
Unconsciously, the gambler is - in a sense- VOTING for the fundamental principle of modern capitalism: winner take all. While the rest of us foolishly applaud unearned wealth, and LADY LUCK, the idiot goddess of all philistine SUCCESS.
Because I , a confirmed socialist ,question the very legitimacy of ALL free market wealth, I must have a negative opinion of gambling.
( My best wishes to the soon to be jobless staff of the Providence Phoenix. More victims of the cruel PROFIT SYSTEM. )
