As a long time independent democratic socialist and a pre-Vatican II type Catholic I cannot picture any early or mid- 20th century Catholic Pope blessing Zionism or even honoring the gravesites of its founding fathers . The events in Gaza Palestine show " CHRIST CRUCIFIED " again in our times . And this horrendous genocide by HIS same " Chosen People ". As a democratic socialist I have long understood that SOCIALISM ( its fundamental principle of " socialist internationalism " ) is fundamentally incompatible with JEWISH nationalism , better known as Zionism . Oddly enough, some Jewish intellectuals insists that socialism is inherently anti-Semitic !
