David North is as far as I know the only living socialist scholar of Marxist revolutionary leader of the Russian Revolution Leon Trotsky. Trotsky 's voice should never be dismissed as stale 1940 dated. But my own slightly longer than David North 's life teaches me that self proclaimed Marxist vanguard parties cannot by themselves create a 21st century socialist revolution anywhere on the planet. Their biggest mistake since the heady days of " Ten Days That Shook The World" is this dogmatic fanatical hostility to all the world 's great religions,to a still nearly universal belief in God. I cannot believe that matter in motion, even with all sorts of dialectical tricks, is , even unconsciously, working to achieve some socialist utopia on this pale blue dot of a planet. The HUBRIS of 19th and 20th century SCIENCE unbalanced the socialist perception of the future.
